Who is this?

This website is based on the belief that by transforming learning, we can transform countries. It is created in the hope that you will join this journey of learning and growth In ourselves, in our families, and in our spheres of influence (which has been multiplied incredibly by the Internet, as shown by this website). It could involve reaching out in some way to promote learning and growth for those around you (preferably the poor, but not necessarily - we are both equally in need of both learning and growth).

How we learn

One tool that can help us design effective learning experiences is the- 'L-EA-R-N' acronym: define a clear LEARNING GOAL that you want learners to achieve, design an engaging EXPERIENCE that will illustrate the point, allow learners to APPLY the new concept learned, REVIEW and assess whether the new concept has been understood (i.e.learning goal + experience + application + review =&gt; new knowledge). People don’t only learn things with their minds, What they feel in their hearts and practice with their hands is equally important in what gets learned. In most attempts to reform education, the values and beliefs that dtermine what teachers do in the classroom are often ignored. We cannot expect to change classroom practices and relationships without engaging with teachers values and worldview beliefs. My views about learning have been strongly influenced by Paulo Freire’s work on how critical education that teaches people to think and act for themselves can contribute to social change. It has also been shaped by transformative learning theory developed by Jack Mezirow and others to help adults reflect on and change their beliefs and practices.
